Every landscape begins with a plan. We bring together spatial planning, circulation, planting, materials and outdoor living to create a cohesive design that works as beautifully in practice as it looks on paper.
From initial concepts and detailed landscape plans to planting schedules and development masterplans, each project is tailored to its site, its purpose and the people who will use it.

Designer
Melanie Lovell
Director, Designer & Occasional Genius
Melanie has over 20 years of experience in landscape architecture and design. After graduating from Victoria University with a degree in Landscape Architecture, she spent four years working in Wellington, primarily designing residential gardens. She then spent 15+ years with Bluemarble Landscape Architects in New Plymouth, working across a diverse range of projects, from pocket parks and private gardens to streetscapes and multi-lot subdivisions.
Between the two offices, Melanie spent a year travelling across 12 countries, broadening her horizons and cementing a lifelong passion for travel, nature and adventure.
Now working under the name With Envy, Melanie continues doing what she has done for the past two decades: bringing creative vision and practical solutions to outdoor spaces. From residential garden design and landscape plans to consulting and large-scale master planning, she combines an appreciation for how a place looks with a considered understanding of how it works.
Based in New Plymouth, Melanie works with clients across Taranaki and New Zealand, helping them see the potential in their properties and turn ideas into well-considered, achievable designs. She looks forward to helping make your property the envy of the neighbourhood.

Master Planning
Big-picture landscape planning for properties and projects where there is a lot to consider. Master planning looks at the site as a whole, working out how spaces, buildings, access, planting and outdoor areas can work together, while considering opportunities, constraints, priorities and future development. Ideal for large residential properties, lifestyle blocks, greenfield sites, subdivisions and larger-scale developments.

CAN YOU HELP CREATE A LOW MAINTENANCE DESIGN?
Absolutely. Many clients want attractive outdoor spaces that are easy to maintain. We can recommend practical layouts, hardy planting options, simplified garden structures, and materials suited to your maintenance goals.

CAN I GET A LANDSCAPE PLAN DONE REMOTELY/ONLINE?
Yes. Many landscape concepts can now be completed remotely using site photos, measurements, inspiration images, and client questionnaires. This makes the process faster, more affordable, and more flexible while still providing a fully functional concept for your space.

DO YOU WORK WITH EXISTING GARDENS OR JUST NEW BUILDS?
Both! We often redesign or refresh existing outdoor spaces rather than starting from scratch. This can include modernising gardens, improving street appeal, updating planting, adding screening, or reworking underused areas. But we also create beautiful spaces from scratch for new builds and green field developments. If the area is outside, then we are happy to have a chat about what beautiful space you would like to create.

We offer landscape design, planting plans, hardscape ideas, green field planning, property concepts and consulting for residential and lifestyle properties, parks, subdivisions and much more.

CAN YOU CREATE A REALISTIC IMAGE OF MY CONCEPT?
Yes. We can create realistic landscape impressions using photos of your existing property. These images are generally created near the beginning of the process as a visual guide to make sure the concept is progressing in a way you are happy with, before committing to plans.
